Text:
Ray Davison, Routledge 1988.)

The lights in the street illuminated suddenly, dimming the glow of the first evening stars. Squinting against the glare, I tried to make out activity of people in the streets. An eerie glimmer arose from the wet pavement, as passing trams reflected glimpses of shiny hair, a smile or a silver bracelet. Later, as the trams waned and only darkness slid over the trees and streetlights, the neighbourhood seemed to empty carelessly, until at last a lone cat languished across the deserted street.
