WORK HISTORY

Receptionist / Administration Assistant, April – September 2008
I have occupied a number of temporary positions as receptionist for an architectural firm and car dealerships. My duties included a number of administration activities such as, typing, mailing, diary management, sorting of post, ordering supplies, organizing transport, managing switchboard and taking calls, faxing etc.

Translator Checker, March 2008 – September 2008
I have participated in a large-scale project which involved proofreading a large number of texts, which had been translated from Turkish into English. These texts are to be used in the exhibitions for the Frankfurt Book Fair, 2008. The texts required a great deal of concentration and knowledge of nuances, as often there were inconsistencies regarding the use of articles, verb agreement and phrasal verbs. It was a very challenging exercise, but enjoyable to its linguistic component.

Translator, March 2008
I translated several abstracts for Liverpool John Moores University. The abstracts were of a clinical nature, relating to the topic of drug abuse and dependency.

Bar / Restaurant Staff, December 2006 – April 2008
The Royal Hotel, Liverpool.
