Posted - 02/01/2009 : 12:44:02 Hello! I am knew in CAT tools. Trados and Wordfast are very expensive for me as I live in Ukraine and with this money I can live the whole month! Tell me please is there any free CAT tools? and how presence of any of the CAT tools changes the process of translation? Thanks to everyone who will answer here!

What Stefan probably means are translation units, not terms. WordFast termbases (or glossaries) can store unlimited number of terms even in the trial version.

Posted - 03/03/2009 : 19:10:02 Free CAT Tools: - OmegaT: Java-based free CAT tool, OS-independent. Not much used by agencies. - MemoQ: relatively a new one. 90-days trial and runs in a limited, but still usable mode afterwards. - Across: free for freelancers. Very complex, has all the features you will need. But beware: installs MS SQL Server which will eat up to 50% of your hardware, depending on your machine's configuration. - Transit Satellite: free editor for projects prepared to you by others. - SLDX Lite: free editor for projects prepared to you by others. - Anaphraseus: WF-like CAT tool for OpenOffice ONLY. I hope this helps.

Others are Transit Satelite Version, but this is only compatible with Transit (pxf). |
