Hi, are you planning to localize a website? Do you need to work within the Source Code of the website and a CAT tool is not available or not practical?

So which software to use? How can you work easy and efficiently?

Please discuss different softwares and show both advantages and disadvantages to help our members to evaluate what is best.

Hi Stefan, the best way of localizing websites IS using CAT tools. There are so many pros that it would take too long to name all of them.
Otherwise, if you know at least a little something about HTML, you can translate any website in the Notepad.
BTW, you mentioned elswhere that you were using WordFast. To use it to translate a webpage, open the webpage in Word (but don't let Word be your HTML editor!!!) and open the first segment. You will get a message saying something like: "This seems to be an HTML file. WordFast will first assign styles, blah, blah, blah". Now WordFast will assign the "tw4winExternal" (such as HEAD, META, P etc.) style to all tags that are usually meant to be external and "tw4winInternal" to all tags that are meant to be internal (STRONG, SPAN, etc.).
But maybe I'm teaching an eagle how to fly right now... :)

PS: efficiency comes with experience. And of course, the best thing is learning HTML and CSS, or at least the very basics of it.
